FOWLERVILLE — Fowlerville Community Schools will host a coffee hour to give community members an opportunity to have informal conversations with various board members.
The first coffee hour will be held 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Torch 180 Café and Coffee Shop in The Gathering Place, located at 131 Mill Street in Fowlerville.
The idea was proposed Tuesday, Oct. 3, by Secretary Sue Charron, who thanked the audience for coming to the meeting and explained board members aren’t able to respond during public comment, when community members are given three minutes to speak on district-related topics.
“We’d have a time where our constituents could come and just sit casually with us and chit-chat, share their concerns,” Charron said. “I really like to talk to people and share ideas, so we really are on the same page and we aren’t just sitting up here listening to you, but rather really communicating.”

President Amy Sova agreed, as did other board members.
The board hopes to offer the coffee hour on a monthly basis. Future times and locations will be announced later.
“I think sometimes we are way more alike than we are different,” Charron told The Daily.
